What are the refractive error?
Refractive error is a problem with focusing light accurately onto the retina due to the shape of the eye. The most common types of refractive error are nearsightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

Myopia (Nearsightedness)
Nearsighted individuals typically have problems seeing well at a distance and are forced to wear glasses or contact lenses. The nearsighted eye is usually longer than a normal eye. When light passes through the eye it is focused in front of the retina.

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
Farsighted individuals typically develop problems reading up close before the age of 40. The farsighted eye is usually slightly shorter than a normal eye. The light of distant objects focuses behind the retina unless the natural lens can compensate.

Astigmatism
Asymmetric steepening of the cornea or natural lens causes light to be focused unevenly. To individuals with uncorrected astigmatism, images may look blurry or shadowed.

Presbyopia
Presbyopia is a condition that typically becomes noticeable for most people around age 45. With age, the lens loses its ability to focus adequately. Affected individuals usually find that holding reading material further away makes the image clearer. Ultimately, aids such as reading glasses are typically needed.

Surface treatment (PRK))
In PRK, the thin outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) is removed and discarded prior to reshaping the underlying corneal tissue with an excimer laser. The epithelium repairs itself (grows back) within a few days.

PresbyLASIK (PresbyMAX)
PresbyMAX is a minimally invasive method for the treatment of presbyopia using the cutting-edge technology of the SCHWIND AMARIS eye laser systems. Multifocal / Trifocal intraocular Lenses
This implant gives patients a better chance to enjoy clear vision at all distances with maintained contrast sensitivity and lower visual disturbance. This lens enables patients to switch naturally between all distances. This lens is used in cases of presbyopia, cataract, myopia and hyperopia.

Phakic lenses (STAAR VISIAN ICL)
Phakic implantable contact lenses (ICLs), are implantable contact lenses that are surgically inserted into the eye where they provide excellent quality of vision with predictable and stable results. ICL i s a b l e t o c o r r e c t h i g h d e g r e e s o f nearsightedness up to -20 and may be performed in patients who are not candidates for LASIK.

iStent
is a relatively new procedure that involves inserting a tiny hollow metal tube (stent) into the trabecular meshwork in the eye. It is less invasive surgery compared to other more complex drainage surgeries and it has a faster recovery time. Eye pressure was reduced by about 35 per cent in the patients having iStent surgery.
